I'm Lizzie, I ask a lot of questions, listen intently, often stand a little bit too close, short in stature, loud in laughter. I have a passion for helping people unstick things. I don't like to call it a ‘problem solver’ because it’s not always a problem; often it’s an idea that just needs turning into reality. I am a rare human breed of creative AND highly organized. I do not find myself easy to title, don’t have a one-line elevator pitch, but am often labelled ‘a generalist,’ ‘a fairy godmother,’ ‘operator,’ ‘listener’ ‘empath’ ‘right-hand woman’ ‘wearer of many hats’ (not physically, they don’t suit me). I have been many things and that I can finally say with pride (back in 1996 it wasn't cool to move from job to job). But I say yes a lot and that has meant I have found myself in the best opportunities and also the biggest challenges. My nurturing nature started at Great Ormond St as a qualified Paediatric nurse. But my love for adventure led me to creativity and culture in Amsterdam, bypassing some details (you can see LinkedIn if you want that level of info), where a dreamy movie story cast me as the role of Creative Director at Volkshotel. Here, I fostered engagement within a community of diverse individuals, both locals and guests, breathing life into the arts and culture scene. My journey then took me to the global stage, where I joined WeTransfer, a platform empowering millions to share their ideas effortlessly. In my role as Head of People Operations & Internal Communication (among other impressive hats), I guided the company through rapid growth and change, ensuring that the people remained at the heart. Returning to my roots in London, I embarked on a new adventure as the Director of Strategy & Operations at OverTime Leader. Here, I collaborated closely with visionary leaders in scaling tech companies, navigating the complexities of high growth with strategic precision. Now, as a whatjamacallit (consultant+implementer+visionary+coach), I ensure businesses and individuals turn ideas into reality and make informed, data-backed + people-led decisions. Volkshotel was once a newspaper headquarters, now home to 201 hotel rooms ranging from cosy hideouts to huge hangouts.  .  As Creative Director I brought a human, fun and playfulness to the design and tone of voice of the hotel. Through copywriting for the website, seasonal celebrations for the guests, styling the rooms with extra special touches, signage, decorating events and weddings. I collaborated with incredible local artists to ensure the authenticity as named the hotel ‘of the people’. ‘For biologists, night bloomers and artists. A place for everyone. Volkshotel creates meetings and the meetings create Volkshotel. This is a hotel of the people.’ I even managed to transport a caravan through Amsterdam and into the lobby to become a shop (which I designed the products for). You name it, I did it, and it was a LOT of fun!   Volkshotel.
